NEWCASTLE, Placer County — Newcastle was among the locations identified in Placer County’s 2025–26 state-funded road maintenance program, which included pavement surface treatments designed to extend road life.

The county’s SB 1 Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account project list described a planned approximately 18 miles of surface treatment across Auburn, Granite Bay, Loomis and Newcastle at an anticipated cost of $1.9 million. The original project schedule targeted fall and winter 2025.

What is pavement surface treatment?

Preventive treatments can protect road surfaces and improve ride quality, but they are not always equivalent to complete structural reconstruction. The county’s project list identifies a regional program rather than a final street-by-street schedule for Newcastle.

How can residents verify their road?

The stated construction season has passed. This historical budget entry does not itself confirm which Newcastle roads were treated or that all planned miles were completed. Residents should check current county road maintenance records and report outstanding surface hazards using the county’s public works channels.

Funding estimates can change after bidding and construction. A general allocation should not be represented as an exact amount spent on one community.
