NEWCASTLE, Placer County — Newcastle and Ophir residents received a local presentation about the county’s future land-use direction at a July 27, 2026 Municipal Advisory Council meeting.
Placer County’s official agenda archive lists a Newcastle/Ophir community forum and an advisory council meeting with the Placer 2050 General Plan Update among its topics. The meeting was listed for Newcastle Elementary School’s gymnasium at 645 Kentucky Greens Way, Newcastle.
Why does the General Plan matter?
General Plans guide decisions about future housing, infrastructure, transportation, agricultural land and natural resources. Community input helps county planners evaluate choices, but an advisory presentation does not itself approve a subdivision or amend a parcel’s zoning.
How can residents follow decisions?
Meeting agendas, past packets and any resulting recommendations are available through the county’s official agenda center. Residents interested in a particular property should check adopted zoning and future Board of Supervisors decisions instead of treating a draft map as a final rule.
The Municipal Advisory Council is advisory, not a separate city government. Newcastle is an unincorporated community subject to county planning authority.
